My name is Tricia (A.k.A Patricia).... I am 17 years old. I go to Olathe North high school. I am a Junior. I use to be afraid of snakes but now i think that they are the coolest animals. on this earth. I am Hispanic even though i look white. I have a brother and a sister my brother is older than me by a year and a half and my sister is 6 years younger than me. I love to be outside, I cant stand to be inside all the time.I hope to go to college in California with one of my best friends. I hope to one day become a vet or a pediatrician.

Survival of the fittest in snakes is my topic.

What is Survival of the fittest?
Natural selection conceived of as a struggle for life in which only those organisms best adapted to existing conditions are able to survive and reproduce.

~The Black Mamba~
There are many different kinds of snakes. One is the most feared and the deadliest in Africa is The black mamba. This snake lives in south Africa. The black mamba is not really black.It has a grayish tent. It has a head shaped like a coffin, and has brownish scales along its back. It gets its name from the ink colored mouth it has. This snake can grow up to 14 feet in length, and travel at speeds of up to 12 mph. The black mamba can strike up to 4-6 feet away. The snakes Venom is Neurotoxin which affects the nerves. Most victims die because the venom is so strong that it stops all messages to the nerves from the brain and most victims die of suffocation. When there was no cure for snake bites the chance of you dieing from the bite was 100%. Why Is this snake so feared in Africa? There are many stories about this snake chasing people for miles, Striking at you because they see you and slithering into your house, and killing everyone inside. so not many people want to go near them or see them. The black mamba survives because the venom of this snake is so deadly that just 2 drops of this snakes Venom can kill a human.



~Eastern hog-nosed snake~
The eastern Hog nosed snake Has a upturned snout it helps them to dig under loose soil. The western hog nose has the ability to act like a rattle snake which makes it seem bigger and more dangerous than it really is. The hog nose are active during the day. They bask in the open. When the hog nose feels that it is endanger it will flip on its back and act dead. In the winter time the hog nose will burrow under the soil and some times steal other animals burrows such as the gofer and eat the family and make the burrow bigger for its new home. The snake Survives because it has the actions of a Rattle snake. Because this snake is smart it will survive and make more babies.

~Western Diamond Back Rattle Snake~
The Diamond back snake is one of my favorite snakes. The Diamond back Lives in the desert and can go for several days without water. It get its water supply from the blood of the victim. The Diamond back also recycle the water from its Urine. So i poops out crystal like substance instead of liquid. The Diamond back can grow up seven feet in length. The colors ranges from brown to gray to pinkish, depending on the shade of its habitat.Its head is distinguished by two dark stripes, one on each side of its face, which run diagonally, like Zorro’s mask, from its eyes back to its jaws. Because this snake is so In line with its habitat it can survive and will live on to reproduce.
